Healing from Substance Use Disorder is a sensitive process that requires relating to individuals using a kinship and strength-based approach. This online learning event will include information on Traditional Healing approaches using examples from a program that serves individuals with substance use needs from an Indigenous/Tribal community. Oaye Luta Okolakiciye is a Lakota-based nonprofit 501c3 organization located in Rapid City, SD. The program promotes healing by providing a continuum of Lakota culturally based services including substance abuse prevention, intervention, and recovery education. The focus is on strengthening inherent cultural potential while instilling hope, promoting wellness, and revitalizing cultural identity development in youth, adults, families and communities.
